How to play Eraly
Guess the year of seven historical moments. Each answer moves your traveller along a timeline, and the closer your guess is to the real year, the farther you travel. A perfect daily game is worth 700 points.
Your first journey
- Open today's Eraly game and press Start the journey.
- Read the event and its hint. Enter a year from 1 to 2026 AD.
- Press GO or Enter before the 25-second timer runs out.
- Read the answer, your distance from it and the historical fact. Press Next to continue.
- After seven questions, see your total, share your result or start a free Infinite journey.
You get one guess per question. An empty or invalid entry does not count as a submitted answer, but the timer keeps running. If time expires, the question earns zero points. Refreshing the page resumes your journey; it does not reset a running timer.
Scoring, explained
The score bands reward accuracy while allowing more room for older events. An exact year always earns 100 points.

For events more than 50 years before 2026, the 5-, 20- and 50-year windows widen by the square root of the event's age divided by 50, rounded to a whole year. The exact-year band never widens.
For example, if the answer is 2000, a guess of 2004 earns 85 points and 2015 earns 60. If the answer is 1600, the 85-point window is about 15 years, so 1610 also earns 85. Being ten years away from an older event is treated more generously.
Daily or Infinite?
The daily puzzle has seven shared questions and resets at midnight in your local time. There are 50 daily sets in the current rotation. After finishing, come back the next day for another daily result.
Eraly Infinite offers as many seven-question journeys as you like, for free. It selects from the 350-question collection, excludes today's daily set and offers unplayed moments first. Once you have explored the collection, older questions return. Infinite progress belongs to the browser you play on.
Build a better estimate
- Find an anchor. Connect an unfamiliar event to a date you know: a ruler's reign, a war, an invention or a sporting era.
- Read the wording. A first publication, first flight and first commercial release can happen in different years.
- Choose a century, then narrow it. Use the hint to move from a broad period toward a decade.
- Learn from the reveal. The fact after each answer gives you another anchor for a future puzzle.
Unlocks, sound and sharing
Achievements unlock hats, gear, coats and scarves in the Wardrobe. Your first Infinite journey unlocks the Infinite coat and Golden loop. You can equip items whenever you like; your choices stay in your browser.
The speaker button controls effects and the musical note controls background music. Your choices are saved separately. After a daily game, Copy result or Share creates a spoiler-free score summary. It does not reveal the seven answer years.
